Comcast Xfinity OnDemand not working - Xfinity On Demand


I was catching up on the regular network tv shows I'd missed on Xfinity's on demand. I had finished one episode and was trying to select another episode, when I got a pop-up box on screen saying my selection required a subscription. This didn't make sense, since my bill was current, I could watch other channels other than those through On Demand, and the shows I was trying to watch were free. I called Comcast's technical support. The first rep said she'd reset my box but then she hung up on me. The next person said she'd remotely reset my box and it would take an hour. I called back an hour and a half latter, when it still wasn't working, and was told my box would be reset and it would take an hour. I explained this has already been attempted, but it didn't work, but she insisted that was what needed to be done. At this point, I asked for a supervisor, who again told me all she could do was try to reset my box, which would take an hour. I escalated further and finally was told they would try resetting my box and that a technician would call me the next day. The next day, my On Demand was still not working and I did not receive a call from a technician. That was a week ago and still no call. I finally went online and found a trouble shooting site (not run by Comcast) that told me to try unplugging my box and plugging it back it. It worked! I spoke to 5 people at Comcast who could not help me. And I was supposed to be called by a technician, but that never happened. This is the worst technical support I"ve ever dealt with. I will be shopping around for a better cable provider.
